Savannah has a wonderful museum dedicated to the story of the Eighth Air Force. The "Mighty Eighth", as it was known, was ordered to carry out America's air war against Nazi Germany during WW2.
The museum is first-rate and very extensive, requiring a full day for an intelligent person to fully enjoy it. There is a fantastic "why we fight" section, which describes the rise of Nazism.
I've been there numerous times, of course, but last time I took my camera and grabbed a few shots. Next time I go, I'm going to spend the day photographing more of the pictures and exhibits.
It serves as a memorial to the men and women who served in that struggle. To give perspective on the size and intensity of the fight, the fact remains that more than 50,000 American airmen gave their lives in this struggle, the largest air war in history. That number does not include casualties from other Allied Nations.
Why not come down to see it? Come to America. Fly to Atlanta. Catch a plane to Savannah. When you are at the airport in Savannah, you are a stones throw from the museum, which, technically, is located in Pooler, Georgia.
Or, get on Route I-95 South and stay on it the whole time until you reach Pooler Ga. Exit and choose one of the numerous hotels that grew up around the institution. It's well worth the trip!

Frustrated zazzle - stash by cash.......very dissapointing. But the bright side is that I can organize things better the second time around.
